PACIFIC ISLANDER COMMISSION 2018
We as PIYYA apologize for backtracking when updating everyone on what PIC is and what it's importance is to PIYYA. As the CalPac details PIC as:

The Mission: To make disciples of Jesus Christ, for the transformation of the World. Local churches and extension ministries of the Church provide the most significant arenas through which disciple-making occurs.

The Purpose:
-
To promote the full participation of the Pacific Islanders in the California Pacific Annual Conference of the United Methodist and to be opened to consultation with the resident Bishop concerning all matters affecting the Pacific Islanders ministry on the Mainland and the Pacific.
-
To develop Christian leadership and self-determination of Pacific Islanders.
-
To encourage and assist Pacific Islanders ministerial candidates to attend accredited theological institutions or designated other alternatives whereby Pacific Islanders can better prepare themselves for ministry.
-
To provide opportunities for all Pacific Islanders with trans-cultural education, experience and direction to foster better understanding and smoother transition into social economic environments in the United States.
-
To be means and an advocate for other needs of Pacific Islanders.

When you view our "About" Page, it mentions that PIYYA is under the Guidance of PIC & PINCUM. In 2017, the residing Bishop, Bishop Hagiya addressed PIC in Hawaii and requested for the Youth & Young Adults to step up to not only getting together but working to re-grow the congregations of United Methodist Churches in this CalPac Conference. It was then that the PIC created PIYYA, one based in Hawaii and another in Los Angeles; the first mission was to create a Camp to gather the young adults to start the process of building up the new generation into the Methodist Doctorate. Los Angeles held their Camp in May 2017 and Hawaii held their Camp in October 2017, both resulting to the pointing out the need our Youth and Young Adults were reaching out for. With a simple program, the feedback we received was overwhelming. The youth and young adults that attended both camps requested for more programs, more gatherings and more camps to increase their faith in the faith that their parents have. Thus, after PIYYA LA met with the pastors at their annual retreat in 20177 - it was confirmed that PIYYA would continue and create programs under their guidance.

This year's PIC was held in Los Angeles and it was the first time we got to present a report of our past events and move forward to bridging the gap between both generations towards the same goal.
